Safety Alert: Understand the Truth About New Metal Mesh Materials

Monday, October 22, 2012

For the past year, there has been some discussion in the safety industry on using layers of metal-mesh material in protective gloves and other PPE for cut and fine puncture resistance. Companies like Alycore® are preparing to launch safety gloves made of this material.

You may be familiar with product demonstrations involving the crushing of wine glasses.  These demonstrations may be for show, rather than for substance.  HexArmor® was determined to find out.

Because our customers have asked, HexArmor® has spent the past year testing and evaluating this material. Though our testing and development remains ongoing, we will NOT launch gloves made with metal-mesh material in its current form, as there are currently too many safety issues involved.

This video explains what we have discovered in our past year of testing.

At HexArmor, our goal is simple; work with our customers to bring the best purpose-built PPE to them and solve their toughest safety issues. Because of that commitment, we refuse to use inferior material standards.
