Terms and definitions relating to HexArmor products.

Ambidextrous
Can be used on the right or the left hand, arm, or leg.
ASTM F 1790
A standard test in the safety industry against cut resistance from razor blades.
ASTM1342
A standard test in the safety industry against punctures from nails.
Auto Clave
A type of sanitizing system used to kill bacteria and viruses that could be contained in or on materials (like gloves and other clothing and utensils) in the animal and laboratory industry.
Cage Wash
A type of sanitizing system used to kill bacteria and viruses that could be contained in or on materials (like gloves and other clothing and utensils) in the laboratory industry.
Dexterity
Ability to use the hands to perform a given task, such as manipulating small objects.
Dry Grip
Products are maximized for gripping dry surfaces and materials, like wood, glass, dry metals, and other materials.
FDA
Food and Drug Administration.
FingerArmor™
“Half” glove worn over the thumb and index finger (and sometimes middle finger) ONLY.
Glove Torture Box
A marketing tool for HexArmor® that contains glass sharps, metal fragments and oily metals, needles, and razor blades that allows the customer to get a first hand look at the properties exhibited in HexArmor® products. The torture box only tortures our gloves and does not pose a risk to customers or animals or anything of the sort.
Guard Plates
Hexagon or pentagon shaped plates that are imbedded onto nylon, polyester, neoprene, or other fabric base.
Hook & Loop
A closure piece similar to name brand Velcro® products.
ISEA
International Safety Equipment Association. The standards for cut resistance testing is broken into different levels of safety, with Level I as the weakest level and Level V as the highest level of cut protection. KEVLAR®
A cut and abrasion resistant aramid fabric used in gloves and sleeves. KEVLAR® is a registered trademark of E.I. du Pont de Nemours and company.
Needlestick
A hazard to the skin presented by an uncapped or improperly discarded used or unused needle.

Puncture

Shucking
To remove the husk or shell from an oyster, clam, or mollusk.
SuperFabric® Brand Material
A special type of fabric that has exceptional properties of cut, puncture, and abrasion resistance, flame retardance, washability, gripping ability, all while maintaining extreme flexibility. Created by Higher Dimension Medical, Inc.
Washability
The ability to wash or sanitize HexArmor® products in a machine wash cycle.
Wicking Liner
An interior liner that removes moisture from the skin.
