Letter From the President

Extreme Engineering

In the late 90s, my business partner, Brent Lohrmann and I invested in a company called Higher Dimension Medical. Founded by a theoretical physicist, Dr. Young-Hwa Kim, HDM was a group of very talented scientists who were trying to solve a real thorny problem: how do you make scalpel and needle resistant surgical gloves that had enough dexterity to perform surgery. That proved to be a very tough set of requirements. However, it set the bar for engineering and innovation very high and set the stage for what would happen several years later.

We were so intrigued we began working with HDM to try to sell the product in the safety market. During this process we were able to secure tests in many industrial situations. To be honest, at the beginning the performance of the product was not perfectly suited for the safety market, but, by working closely with HDM we both saw that the shortcomings could be addressed with some engineering changes.

Within a year, HDM’s scientists had engineered a series of new innovations with the product and solved all of the early performance issues we had seen in the market. HexArmor Personal Protective Armor was born. Now we had a real platform to change the safety industry. In fact, we believed in it so much, that we decided to purchase, from HDM, the exclusive rights for the use of the technology in the industrial safety market.

Our goal is simple but aggressive: fundamentally change the way people look at safety products and how they perform. Traditional products like KEVLAR and Spectra have allowed safety managers to make big changes in safety, but they fall short of the safety triple crown: high cut resistance, high puncture resistance, and low cost of ownership. Our products can be 250% more cut resistant, 500-1000% more puncture resistant and can reduce PPE costs (without even considering cost of injuries) by over 50%. Audacious? You have to see it for yourself.

One of my plant-manager customers said it best. “Forget about the cost of injuries for a second. I hate the fact that every day, we hurt people. I saw this guy get a puncture in his arm, right through his KEVLAR sleeve, and I thought to myself, ‘Man that must have hurt.’ WE NEED TO STOP HURTING PEOPLE IN THIS PLANT!”

I encourage you to talk to us about how we can use HexArmor to solve your safety problems. I promise that you will find this product a true innovation that can make a real difference in your safety record.

So, our mission is clear: make a fundamental change in safety and stop the hurt! We look forward to working with you.
