The protective materials were also tested independent of SATRA labs, using a modified ASTM 1342 standard of puncture resistance. The ASTM 1342 test measures the force required to cause a sharp-edged puncture probe to penetrate through the sample. The modified test uses a much sharper 25 gauge medical grade needle resulting in a more realistic test of Needlestick resistance.
