Exceeding Industry Standards for Cut-Resistance
HexArmor® products, made with SuperFabric® brand materials, offer industry leading cut-resistance, exceeding both ISEA/ANSI and CE/EN388 Level 5 cut-resistance. Performance is enhanced through the configuration of tiny guard plates, which provide resistance to lacerations and slashes like no other material on the market.
Exceeds ISEA/ANSI (ASTM F1790-05) and CE (EN388) Level 5
Shielding effect keeps sharp cut hazards (metal, blades, glass) from slipping between fibers and causing cut injuries
Won't snag or abrade like typical fiber-based, cut-resistant gloves
Typical cut-resistant gloves are made with a performance fiber (Kevlar®, Dyneema®, Spectra®) or blend of cut-resistant performance fiber. While these gloves offer some levels of cut-resistance, they lack the ability to prevent hazards from puncturing or penetrating the skin surface. When a jagged piece of metal, wire, glass, or splinter comes up against a cut-resistant glove fiber, it will find a "window" between the fiber rows and cause a laceration.
At HexArmor®, our cut-resistant gloves offer more than just protection from straight edge cut hazards. We realize there are variables (force, angle, application) that come into play and can affect how a cut hazard will contact the user. SuperFabric® brand material is an ideal solution for cut-resistant gloves, as it protects from both straight edged cuts and variable situations.

360˚ Cut 5 Protection Saves Utility Technician From Laceration Injury
While searching for a wire-cutting tool with safety features to reduce slice injuries, an Ohio-based power and lighting company was continually unable to find such a product to meet their needs. A local team leader suggested they view hand PPE as a tool; in this way they were able to begin finding a solution.
Purpose-Built Safety Solutions
An online search led the team leader to the HexArmor® site, where he was able to get in contact with a Solutions Specialist. An in-depth review of the company’s particular uses and applications led to a recommendation for the Chrome Series® Cut 5 360° 4025.
Many of the hazards faced by the field technicians originated from frequent cutting and handling of insulated copper wire. The cutting tools used for this application had a tendency to slip during use – often resulting in a laceration to the back of the technician’s hand. For this reason, the SuperFabric® brand material with Level 5 cut protection would need to encompass the entire hand – not just the palm. Additionally, the utility company had frequently experienced issues with steel wire rope, which would fray and create a danger for the technicians.
Superior Cut and Puncture Protection
Field testing of the Chrome Series® Cut 5 360° 4025 with SuperFabric® brand material held true to the HexArmor® standards of safety and quality. While repairing a transformer, the technician wearing the gloves caught the sharp end of a #2 copper wire in between the thumb and index finger on his right hand. The exterior fabric was torn immediately, but the copper wire was stopped by the full-hand layer of SuperFabric® material, saving the technician from what would have been a severe laceration.
Upon review of the glove, the technician stated that the Chrome Series® Cut 5 360° 4025 “enhanced [his] ability to complete a specific task,” “holds up well,” and that he, “strongly agreed that the glove was superior to similar available products.”
