One of the nation’s largest producers of aggregates-based construction materials, including asphalt and ready-mixed concrete, needed help finding the right safety eyewear tint for employees transporting materials. The problem
While delivering materials in the morning, drivers were spending a large amount of time driving straight towards the sun, causing squinting, eye fatigue, and poor vision on the road.
The current shaded safety glasses they were using with 3M and Nemesis were not dark enough to mitigate the immense sun glare, and a new solution was needed.
The solution
After speaking with a HexArmor® Solution Specialist, the Grey 14% or Silver Mirror 12% tints were recommended, the darkest tints HexArmor® has to offer.
Samples were sent out in the MX300 frame in Grey 14% and the VS250 frame in Silver Mirror 12% to see if these could help with the glare and bright sunlight.
Feedback
The trial went exceptionally well, and the MX300 Grey 14% was chosen to begin use. Compared to their previous eyewear, the drivers loved the comfort and felt the Grey 14% tint worked great while looking into the sun.
