Titanium firewall construction is a common manufacturing process in the aerospace industry. These firewalls are large, complex assemblies requiring sophisticated engineering and the proper tools to complete – including personal protective equipment. Without the proper gloves, injuries happen. Here’s how an employee’s finger was saved with a HexArmor® glove at a prominent worldwide aircraft production company.
An employee had just finished drilling up a titanium firewall and ran his gloved hand across the hole pattern. However, one of the holes had a rough edge known as a burr that ended up poking through the finger on the glove causing a very small laceration.
Luckily, the employee had been wearing HexArmor’s Helix® 3050 glove. Had he not, he would have sustained a much more significant injury. The 3050 had just been added to the PPE lineup.
The Helix® 3050 features 360° ANSI/ISEA level A6 cut and level 5 puncture protection and is an incredibly dexterous 18-gauge glove that is derived from recycled plastic water bottle materials.
The PrimeSoft nitrile coating of the Helix® 3050 provides superior grip in dry, oil, or wet conditions and delivers extreme ANSI/ISEA Level 6 abrasion resistance.
The Helix® 3050 prevented what would have been a recordable injury had he been wearing the gloves we swapped them out of. The company is very happy about this save as it helps support their safety goals with each and every worker on their team.Download PDF
